The total projected population of the four villages (in 2040) is approximately 8,000 people. An environmental study has been carried out. According to the KfW and WB Environmental Policy, the project is classified as environmental category B, which requires an EIA to be carried out for environmental compliance. Therefore, Providers must have BSAA level 2. In general, the scope of works includes wastewater treatment plants, which include: ‒ Preliminary mechanical cleaning (large + fine mesh + sand and oil removal) ‒ Basic biological treatment (primary settling + rotating biological discs + clarifier) ‒ Disinfection of treated wastewater (maturation ponds) ‒ Sludge treatment and storage (including stabilization, dewatering and storage) Note: Alternative technological solutions must be adopted for a CMC meeting the treatment objectives, and the main selection criteria should be CAPEX and OPEX. As a result of the implementation of all the works, the sewage treatment of the population of the villages should be ensured. Geotechnical measurements and protection should be considered for sites with landslide and rock fall risks. Additional geotechnical studies are required. For the first design horizon, the CMC design will include a mechanical treatment plant with a stone catcher, a large-hole and a small-hole grate, a sedimentation cell for sand grains and lubricants, primary sedimentation in the upper section of the Imhoff chamber, biological treatment (TCP5-BOD5) for carbon removal in rotating biological discs ( PKC-RBC) followed by final deposition. The sludge will be treated by anaerobic cold fermentation in the bottom of the Imhoff chamber. In general, this concept of KMC will allow to expand the next project horizon. Moreover, it has the possibility of complete nitrogen removal through the appropriate improvement of the cleaning process. For 2040, the PKS-RBC is designed for carbon removal and nitrification, so in later stages the Imhoff chambers can be converted to denitrification ponds and an additional sludge stabilization pond can be built, which will improve the operation and capacity of the WWTP. In its design, the contractor must demonstrate the feasibility of expanding the WWTP to meet more stringent treatment requirements and complete nutrient removal in the second stage. In its design for the first phase, the Contractor shall provide for all necessary connections for future expansion of the KMCs, including additional areas, which shall be provided for and shown in the respective KMC scheme of each prospective village. Duration Works contract. 18 months (planned from September 2023) PSP. 12 months The contract The tender process will be carried out using KfW's standard two-envelope method. The selection of Experienced Contractors will be made in accordance with §Guidelines for the purchase of consulting and non-consulting services, works, equipment, goods within the framework of financial cooperation with partner countries¦. The guide is available at www.kfw-entwicklungsbank.de. Lot B4 works shall be carried out in accordance with the FIDIC Plant Design and Construction Contract, 2nd Edition, (2017 Yellow Book) and during the Defects Notification period during the 01 (one) year Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of the KM Plant.
